DANCE work, long form performance, original + other works
Knockout
A fierce duet between two women, Knockout is a self-possessed, ever-morphing cinematic dance work contending with the nature of the liminal : a provocative study of the space between desire, intimacy, strength, and survival.
Erin Kilmurray + Kara Brody’s choreographic collage novel jump-cuts through a thrill-ride of fight sequences, self defense training, toothful camp, odd obsessions, and partnerships that sidestep tidy categorization. TKO, baby.
the Function
the Function is a genre-bending, femme-powered dance work that asks and imagines what is possible when empowered to rebuild our environments, atmospheres, futures, and realities. With a playground of choreography and hardware store objects, four dancers actively create, operate, labor, and destroy their own utopias / performance worlds through DIY stage craft, iterative, athletic movement, bass driven, sonic storytelling, and house party energy.
The Fly Honey Show
The Fly Honey Show (est. 2010) is a femme-powered, queer-celebratory, all-body loving, smokeshow of a performance project where pleasure is king and politics favor the queens - part cabaret, part protest, part nightclub, and a full f*ck off show.
Lead by director/choreographer Erin Kilmurray, The Fly Honeys are dancers, collaborators, mothers, cousins, doctors, daughters, DJs, teachers, friends, writers, actors, arts administrators, bartenders, babysitters, musicians, matriarchs, they-triarchs, queers, dykes, honeys, homies, brothers, sisters, enbys, boys, bois…. a whole damn Hive.
Nightshade
Nightshade is an iterative and emerging group dance work exploring grief, groove, archive, ephemerality, crowds, collective rhythm, disorientation, desire.
It is a living architecture, a memory, a celebration, and a vigil, bound by sound, movement and each other.
SEARCH PARTY
Created and performed by a group of women and queer artists, SEARCH PARTY relentlessly pushes up against external pressures by investigating agency, defiance, freedom in space and in the body — asking what is expected of us and what are we capable of.
Staged like a sporting event, this work is wrought from defeat, endurance, compassion, competition, collaboration, and victory - as individuals, as a group, and together with our audiences.
The Salts
Sharing the bill with local bands and guest performers in an immersive atmosphere, The Salts perform a set of high-velocity dances to distorted guitar, driving bass lines, wild vocals creating a kinetic energy - like seeing a band’s performance from the inside of the kick drum.
OTHER WORKS
Short form dances, commissions, collaborations, Archival, etc.
